Get Moving This Summer: 3 Essential Fitness Tips to Stay Active

Summer is the perfect time to get moving, shake off the winter blues, and refresh your fitness routine. The longer days, warmer weather, and vibrant outdoor settings offer a natural boost to your motivation. Whether you’re a beginner or returning to your routine, here are three key tips to help you stay active and make the most of the summer season.

1. Start Simple and Be Consistent
You don’t need an intense workout plan to see progress. Start with daily walks, bike rides, or short bodyweight workouts. Consistency is more important than perfection. Commit to moving your body at least 20–30 minutes a day, and build from there. Remember, small steps lead to big results.

2. Take Advantage of the Outdoors
Summer is nature’s gym. Take your workout outside for a change of scenery and a dose of Vitamin D. Try hiking, paddleboarding, swimming, or outdoor yoga. Not only does it keep things fun and fresh, but training in nature can also reduce stress and boost your mood.

3. Hydrate and Fuel Your Body
Warmer weather means you’ll sweat more, so staying hydrated is essential. Keep a water bottle with you and aim to drink regularly, especially during and after exercise. Pair your movement with nutritious meals, such as lean proteins, fresh fruits, and vegetables, to support energy, recovery, and overall wellness.

This summer, don’t overthink it, just get moving. Whether you’re chasing your kids at the park, going for a jog at sunset or bike ride, or stretching on the beach, every bit of movement counts. Make it enjoyable, keep it sustainable, and your body (and mind) will thank you. Let summer be your season of strength and self-care.

I love taking our (dog) č̓ɛno for short walks around our neighbourhood. There are some stairs and trails around the city, too. (My family) ʔətᶿ jɛ?ajɛ and I enjoy bike rides along the river too. I hope this helps with some ideas. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. It would be an honour to help with your fitness journey!
